A Founder’s Note

We stand today not because our systems failed, but because our philosophy failed. Every collapse we see around us is rooted in something deeper: a broken foundation. How did we get here?

That question has occupied my mind for many years.

The more I studied societies across the world, the more convinced I became that enduring change is never produced by policies alone. Laws may regulate conduct, institutions may administer programs, and governments may introduce reforms, but none of these can permanently transform a people whose guiding philosophy has lost its moral direction.

Every civilization is built upon ideas. Before there are schools, there is a philosophy of education. Before there are economies, there is a philosophy of work. Before there are governments, there is a philosophy of justice. Before there are peaceful communities, there is a philosophy that teaches people how to live together.

When the philosophy is sound, institutions flourish. When the philosophy is defective, even the strongest institutions gradually weaken. It was this realization that gave birth to YFIBIGO.

YFIBIGO was not founded merely to create another organization or another youth program. It was founded as a movement for reconstruction—a movement that seeks to rebuild the mind before attempting to rebuild society. We believe that lasting solutions begin by restoring purpose, strengthening character, and reconnecting education with the moral responsibilities of human life.

In Canada, we recognize the remarkable opportunities available to young people. Yet we also recognize growing challenges that cannot be ignored: mental distress, social isolation, bullying, identity struggles, digital toxicity, substance abuse, and the gradual erosion of belonging. These are not simply behavioural problems; they are signs that many young people are searching for meaning, direction, and hope.

Our response is not condemnation but reconstruction. We believe education should cultivate wisdom as well as knowledge, compassion as well as competence, and responsibility as well as ambition. We believe communities become stronger when young people learn cooperation instead of excessive competition, service instead of selfishness, and shared responsibility instead of social fragmentation.

Our philosophy draws inspiration from humanity’s finest educational traditions while embracing Canada’s rich multicultural society. We seek to unite people across cultures, generations, and communities around timeless values that build trust, dignity, respect, and responsible citizenship. The journey ahead will require educators, parents, community leaders, governments, volunteers, mentors, and young people themselves. No single organization can accomplish this task alone. Reconstruction is a shared responsibility.

I therefore invite you to become more than a visitor to this website. Become part of a movement that believes every young person possesses extraordinary potential waiting to be awakened. Together, we can help shape a generation that is intellectually curious, morally grounded, emotionally resilient, culturally confident, and committed to the common good.

The reconstruction begins with the mind. From there, it transforms the family, the community, the nation, and ultimately the world.
